Thrilled for another year

The final count: 242 zombies in Vancouver, and over 23,000 worldwide.  Wow!!  Not to mention the fact that we raised over $3090 (participants alone) for the Food Bank and I haven’t been in touch with them about how much was raised among spectators... so cool.  Thanks for taking part!  Your friends can still donate online at http://www.foodbank.bc.ca/main/?donate (include “Thrill The World Vancouver” as the company name).  Also, if you taped coverage of TTW Vancouver (on the news, etc.), I’d love to have a copy!

Of course, there’s still one more chance to dance the dance at the Thrill The World Vancouver After Party, happening this Friday, October 30th at the Billy Bishop Legion (1407 Laburnum St.).  The party is hosted by Ceroc Vancouver, Vancouver’s best social dance lessons, and features two dance lessons (first one at 8 pm, doors open at 7:30) and cheap drinks.  Admission is free with a TTW flyer, or email me to get on the guestlist.

Thrill The World is obviously a global event, and Ines Markelle, the creator and director of Thrill The World, wrote this letter to all dancers to thank you for participating.

Also, if you have any feedback for her about the event, she would love you to fill out a quick online survey at http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?hl=en&formkey=dGFSVC10czV4VV9JQm.... Vancouver’s Event ID is 30127.

Finally, you obviously heard me go into a bit of panic at Thrill Time, mumbling something about a conference call.  There was supposed to be a conference call countdown from Ines that I was going to play on the speakers, and I spent the ten minutes before Thrill Time frantically trying to log into it.  Unfortunately, it didn’t actually work for ANYONE around the world, which is a bit of a personal relief (I was very confident that I had the right info but also slightly worried that I’d screwed something up... phew).  We don’t expect that it’s going to affect our world record bid though, which is great news.

Until next year!  Thrill The World Vancouver 2010 is Saturday, October 23 at 9:30 pm.

Thrill on Vancouver!

We couldn't have done it without you

I would like to say one last round of thank you's to the people who helped make Thrill The World Vancouver possible.  First of all, Ines Markelle is the creator and director of Thrill The World, and without her videos and global coordination, none of this would have happened.  Thank you Ines!

Marie Lopes at the Roundhouse Community Centre put a lot of work into sorting out the venue logistics for the event and put up with my barrage of last-minute emails in the week leading up to it.  Kerry O'Donoghue and Amanda Brubaker of Ceroc Vancouver did an excellent job of teaching the workshops and the crash courses.  Kevin Lim of Virgin Radio continually plugged the event on the radio, calling me every few days to let me on the air and say my piece.  Jody Larkin got us the space at the Warehouse and taught a great lesson there.  And it was Thuy Khuc of the Vancouver Film School who approached me about bringing a team of makeup artists into the Roundhouse to do all of our dancers' makeup.  All of these people made huge contributions to the Vancouver event, so thank you very much.

I'd also like to thank the Thrill Day team for their very hard work: Fumie Odette, Steve Macdonald, Dean Fogg, Jody Larkin, Rachael Jones, Karen Ameyaw, Eric Lee, Kimberly Cox, Sandra Trace, Suzanne Louise, Kimli Welsh, Jason Webb, and Steve & Fareedah of the Food Bank.  You guys were awesome and kept everything running like a well-oiled machine!

Finally, one more round of thanks to our guest judges for the costume contest: Rebecca Bollwitt of Miss604.com, Theresa Lalonde of the CBC, Hans Ongsansoy of the Province, and Kevin Lim of Virgin Radio.

So many zombies dancing in unison... so cool. Thanks to Jason Webb for the videography!  Way to fit 242 zombies into the picture.
